Eric Church has released “On The Road,” a new single that looks back on nearly two decades of touring and the experiences that have shaped his career. The song, written by Church and produced by longtime collaborator Jay Joyce, draws on memories of performing in notable venues, playing for crowds beneath the Northern Lights and sharing stages with artists who influenced his musical path.
“On The Road” is deeply autobiographical, reflecting on the highs, challenges and lasting memories that come with a life spent traveling from city to city. Church references performing alongside Kris Kristofferson and George Strait, including Strait’s final Texas show, while also considering what happens when an artist’s time on the road eventually comes to an end.
Church first introduced “On The Road” during a 2023 performance and continued to play it live before officially recording and releasing the song. A studio version was previewed ahead of one of Church’s 2026 Red Rocks performances in Colorado, giving longtime fans an early glimpse of the recording.
