Country singer and U.S. Army Reserve soldier Craig Morgan is marking the approach of the United States’ 250th birthday with the release of his new song, “Blanket of Stars,” arriving July 3 through BBR Music Group and BMG Nashville. The patriotic track pays tribute to the sacrifices of the nation’s servicemen and women, drawing on Morgan’s dual perspective as both a recording artist and longtime member of the military.
Written by Johnny Cummings and Krista Marie and produced by Phil O’Donnell and Mickey Jack Cones, the song reflects on the enduring bonds forged through military service and the cost of defending the country’s freedoms. Morgan said, “Going back more than two centuries, our great nation has an inspiring record of military service, and it’s a reminder of the sacrifices our military personnel make to protect the freedoms we have all come to know and love. ‘Blanket Of Stars’ is one of those songs that speaks directly about that sacrifice.”
The release coincides with nationwide events commemorating America’s semiquincentennial. As part of the celebration, Morgan is scheduled to host and perform during the America Salutes You Armed Forces 250th Birthday special, which begins streaming July 1 on Disney+ and Hulu.
