Carly Pearce is embracing the music that first inspired her career with the release of “What If You Loved Me,” a new collaboration featuring acclaimed bluegrass artists Dan Tyminski and Molly Tuttle. The song serves as the latest preview of Pearce’s upcoming fifth studio album, Honest Woman, scheduled for release on Aug. 28.
Pearce said the track represents a full-circle moment, reflecting the genre she grew up performing before launching her country music career. “Bluegrass is such a cherished part of who I am as it’s where I got my start,” she said. “To record a song that honors my roots with two artists that I have deep respect and admiration for is not only a special moment, but very emotional. 10-year-old Carly who grew up singing in bluegrass bands would be over the moon to know she has a song with Dan and Molly (as is present-day Carly!). This is the perfect moment in my career to show fans this side of my heart.” The song was written by Lauren Hunt, Jordan Reynolds and Parker Welling, with Tyminski contributing mandolin and Tuttle playing clawhammer banjo and acoustic guitar while the trio supplies all of the vocals.
“What If You Loved Me” continues the rollout of Honest Woman, which also includes the previously released tracks “Dream Come True,” “Church Girl,” “She Don’t,” “You Can Have Him,” and the Riley Green duet “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay.” Pearce has described the album as a return to her musical foundation, blending classic country and bluegrass influences while reflecting the personal growth that inspired the project.
