Kenny Chesney knew it was a risky move, but his new single is slowing down the tempo of country radio but speeding up the emotions and meaning.
“Knowing You” is the latest single from Chesney’s album Here and Now. Consisting of reminiscing of losing someone in his life.
“I think we’ve all had that someone in our lives that was so perfect in the moment yet life just moved you apart or moved you forward somehow in your life… but they were a bright spot in your life,” Kenny said.
The song provides musical somberness in it’s beginning, offering listeners a chance to find that person Kenny is singing about. Then, opening up to a chorus that hits hard, Chesney belts out a memory of positivity in this relationship. Other than the lyrics, the single is strong musically, showcasing the full range of Kenny’s voice, along with the working dynamics of the instrumental track.
“The first time I heard ‘Knowing You’ it crushed me because it was such a raw emotion and I felt like a very common one also. I felt like this song had a lot of commonality in it,” Chesney added, and his team at Warner Nashville hopes that said commonality will give it a boost and a ride up the charts.
The song written by Brett James, James Nergenah, and Kat Higgins has just entered the Billboard Country Airplay chart at #60 and is holding the #58 spot on the Mediabase Rolling Country Chart.
